Discover Germany - Explore Europe!

A JYM student once said that you can leave Munich in the morning for a cappuccino in Italy, return via Austria for a Wienerschnitzel or Sachertorte in the afternoon, and make it back to Munich by night for a well-deserved Radler with friends in the English Garden!

Whether you want to embark on "la grand tour" of old during the two-month semester break, or just get away for a weekend or day trip, Munich is the perfect point of departure. Deutsche Bahn student discounted tickets and low-budget airlines make travel to nearly any place in Europe a breeze.

Closer to home, the best preserved Roman ruins and medieval castles can be found just a short distance from Munich. The cities of Nürnberg, Augsburg, Regensburg and Bamberg are a short train ride away and contain the richest examples of romanesque, gothic, renaissance and baroque architecture in all of Europe.

And j
ust beyond the city edges are numerous mountain lakes, alpine trails, and snow-covered Alps. Best of all, you can be there in about an hour!

"The greatest part about being in Munich was being able to spontaneously travel to Paris or Rome for a weekend. The freedom to travel around Europe was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity." (Peter, University of Pennsylvania)
