Mark Ferguson is originally from Plymouth, WI. In high school he was an AFS student to Thailand, and in college he studied in Germany with Wayne State's Junior Year in Freiburg program. Before coming to Detroit, he taught at the University of Essen in Germany and at Bates College, Maine.

Prof. Ferguson is Senior Lecturer in German in the Department of Classical and Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures. He holds an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, and has been JYM's Program Director since 1996.
