The program has operated uninterrupted since 1953. In Germany, JYM enjoys official status as both an affiliated institute approved by the Academic Senate of the LMU Munich (since 1967), as well as an official course of study (Teil-Studiengang) that has been approved by the Bavarian State Ministry of Culture (since 1975).
