Academic Advising

Pre-Admission Advising

A student's "Proposed Schedule of Courses" is the basis for all academic advising. This must be submitted as part of the JYM Application and signed by the student's home school advisor.

Advising in Munich

The Resident Director advises all students individually each semester about their academic programs. Should adjustments to a student's "Proposed Schedule of Courses" be necessary, as is common, every effort is made to arrange for a solid academic program which fits the student's needs. Students are expected to email their home school advisor in the event their final course schedule differs from the original "Proposed Schedule of Courses" that was submitted as part of the JYM Application.

Coursework Options

A typical "Proposed Schedule of Courses" consists of a combination of JYM and LMU Munich courses. Most full-year students take a well-balanced combination of JYM and LMU Munich courses during the first semester, and primarily LMU Munich courses during the second semester.

Special Home School Instructions or Requirements

If a student's home school has special requirements or restrictions governing study abroad, these should be indicated by the student's Advisor on the JYM Application (Special Instructions / Requirements).

It is the student's responsibility to be familiar with these and discuss them with the Resident Director in Munich so that appropriate coursework can be arranged.
