Technology
is changing how we work and learn.
Productivity
in Education
requires mobility, flexibility, and easy accessibility.
New
Learning Environments
are needed to sustain global workforce needs of the future.
A
new German Bridge
is being built to connect global educational and workforce communities
in the 21st century.
As
new communities of global learners emerge in the 21st century, the pace
of re-skilling and training in new competencies will increase. Continuing
educational support will become a natural extension of higher education.
The ability to assimilate both knowledge and experience rapidly will
become the signature of personal, employee, and organizational success.
Technology will not replace traditional education, but rather enhance
its distribution.
As
an incubator for innovative solutions to International Career Development
(ICD), German Bridge aspires to become Michigan's showcase for experimentation
with new technologies and their application to global workforce education
needs:
-
competency-based assessment of German language abilities
- intercultural skills assessment and simulation training
- a self-paced, personalized learning network for HR development
- customizable testing and qualification standards
Technology
will never replace person-to-person contact, interaction, or the longlasting
personal relationships which develop from them. (Nor would we want it
to!)
But
technology can better assist us all as we prepare for cross-cultural
encounters and the many opportunities they hold to construct productive
models of international cooperation, partnership, and understanding.
