German-American Heritage Foundation International (GAHFI)

The German-American Heritage Foundation International (GAHFI) was founded in 1995 by the late Dr. Eugene C. Strobel to educate students about the German-American experience and Michigan's business & trade connections with Germany.

Under the leadership of Mrs. Marge Strobel Donofrio, GAHFI continues the Foundation's important mission of building bridges between high schools and universities, between academia and the business world, between young and old, and between the various communities which make up the diverse ethnic tapestry of southeastern Michigan.

GAHFI annual events include a Cabaret Dinner in spring and its Oktoberfest Twilight Cruise on the Detroit River in fall.

In recognition of Dr. Strobel's passionate work to promote the study of German and strengthen German-American partnerships, the Junior Year in Munich (JYM) at Wayne State University has established a permanent tribute in his honor: The Eugene C. Strobel Memorial Scholarship Fund.
