In
the coming months, several German universities, universities of applied sciences,
and consortia will be opening Liason Offices in New York in cooperation with DAAD.
ConRuhr, a consortium of universities from the Ruhr region were the first to open
their doors in October. German institutions with outstanding proven commitment
to furthering cooperation with North America were selected to be a part of this
exciting project. The real physical presence in New York City should allow them
to more effectively build partnerships with US institutions and conduct outreach
to students, alumni and academics.
As
part of this project, DAAD is pleased to announce two job openings: one with the
liason office of the Free University of Berlin and Ludwig Maximilian University
Munich and the other with The Hessen Universities Consortium. Details follow below.

Two administrative positions

An international automotive manufacturing company based in Germany (headquartered in Oakland County) is adding two key administrative professionals to its growing staff:
Position
Descriptions:
1) The first position will provide administrative support
for the company's global Director of Quality. This multi-faceted position will
involve a great deal of autonomy and will provide the assistant with the opportunity
to build strong relationships with both internal and external customers. Duties
will involve managing communications (i.e. phone communications, email communications,
etc.), preparing Power Point presentations, coordinating meetings/conferences,
arranging domestic and international travel and some minor translations all within
a very fast paced, deadline driven environment.
2) The second position will provide administrative support for the company's VP of Engineering. This position too will involve a great deal of autonomy, however, it will hold a great deal of career growth due to the increases in revenues that are projected by this company. This VP will require an individual to maintain a very complex calendar, manage communications, and act as a coordinator of information gathered from many sources while helping to standardize/streamline processes. This is a very project oriented position, however, there are traditional secretarial duties involved.
Requirements:
The successful candidate must have a minimum of 5 years administrative experience
preferably within an automotive or manufacturing environment, have outstanding
proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point, have well honed communication/grammar
skills (both German and English), possess excellent organizational skills, the
ability to work autonomously, and be able to juggle multiple and complex priorities
in a deadline driven atmosphere.
Compensation
and Benefits:
While salary is commensurate with previous work experience,
these positions will pay between $40,000 and $50,000 annually. Extremely comprehensive
benefits plan is included.
