Going to college today is becoming more and more expensive. On-campus tuition, housing, meal plans, and all those hidden fees are always on the rise.
But not at JYM. In fact, we have not raised our program fee for 6 years in a row!
JYM has consistently remained one of the most affordable study abroad programs in Germany. As a self-financing program at Wayne State University, we don't use our program fees to subsidize other programs around the world. This allows us to operate the program at cost, and offer you a study abroad experience that is thousands less than other study abroad programs in Germany. Unless you have money to burn, why pay more for less?
Below is a real comparison between JYM and a popular, large study abroad provider:
|One Semester Only|
|Fall 2013||JYM Munich||XYZ Berlin|
|tuition, housing, insurance||$9,700||$19,055|
|2013-14||JYM Munich||XYZ Berlin|
|tuition, housing, insurance||$19,400||$35,355|
|housing between semesters||included||not included|
Obviously affordablity is a relative term. But unless you compare program fees carefully (and take into account additional expenses such as vacation travel), you may find yourself on the wrong end of the affordability scale. Now, for those who really want to spend all their money on fees alone, there are study abroad programs in Germany that cost from $38,000 to more than $50,000. The question is: why would you want to do that?
You'd be hard-pressed to find a study abroad program in Germany that distributes $50,000 in scholarship awards annually. But we do - thanks to alumni and friends of JYM who believe that study abroad should be an affordable opportunity for everyone. All students are eligible to apply for JYM scholarships.
