Deadlines: Please register by email: aatgmispringmeeting2009@hotmail.com The 2009 MI-AATG spring meeting and workshop will take place Saturday, March 21 from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm. As we did last year, an AP Awards Ceremony will be included as part of the luncheon that follows the workshop. This year's MI-AATG spring meeting and workshop will again be hosted by the Department of Classical and Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Wayne State University and is made possible by the Uwe K. Faulhaber Endowment for Applied German Studies. MI-AATG Workshop This year we are pleased to have invited Prof. Brigitte Rossbacher of the University of Georgia to conduct a workshop on "Interactive Approaches to Poetry in the German Language Classroom." The workshop will present a variety of creative ideas for integrating poetry into the language classroom. Teachers will receive a packet of poems for use at various levels of German language instruction and develop ideas for exploring the sounds, meaning, presentation, and creation of poetry in the communicative language classroom. Brigitte Rossbacher is Associate Professor of German in the Department of German and Slavic Studies at the University of Georgia, where she coordinates the German language program and supervises the department's teaching assistants. She teaches seminars on the theory and practice of language teaching as well as language and literature courses at all levels. Prof. Rossbacher holds a Ph.D. from the University of California at Davis, and her publications span a wide range of contemporary German literature, GDR studies, and language pedagogy. Workshop Registration The workshop
will be from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm in 368 Manoogian Hall on the campus of
WSU. There is no registration fee for this workshop, other than the $5.00
